Whenever you bring a new prescription into your Pharmacy, do you ever wonder what steps it goes through before it comes to you all bagged up in an amber-colored bottle? Some may think the prescription is handed in, counted, and sold. In reality there is so much more that goes into filling a new prescription for each patient.
Let’s now spend a day in the life of your new prescription (also referred to as “Rx”).
Step 1 : Drop Off
When you enter the pharmacy department, the first thing you must do is bring your Rx to the area marked “Drop Off”. This is where the Technician is responsible for gathering information about you and your prescription, and entering it into the system. Come prepared with your name (or name of the person you are dropping off for), date of birth, address, and best contact phone number.
