On a recent visit to Paris, a friend and I stumbled upon the most spectacular drug store we’d ever seen anywhere, in any country. It was called Publicis Drugstore. As we were walking up the Avenue des Champs-Élysées toward the Arc de Triomphe, the first thing that caught our eye was this steakhouse with outdoor seating that was part of the store. That’s right, a big fancy steakhouse as part of a drug store. Of course, we had to investigate.
In we walked to this most amazing and unusual store. With the restaurant on our left, we headed up the main aisle, which curved and turned as it drew us into a variety of small alcoves with unique merchandise – purses, perfume, gloves and scarves, gift items and souvenirs –– but few product I would consider typical drug-store fare.
